In 1984, Los Angeles hosted one of the must successful Olympic Games in history. The LA84 Foundation is the lasting legacy of those Games. Endowed with 40% of the surplus, approximately $93 million, the Foundation awards grants to youth sports organizations, initiates its own programs and manages the premiere sports library in the world. Since 1984, the Foundation has committed more than $182 million serving more than 2 million youngsters.

Through playing sports, young people can make themselves, their communities, and their world better. The Foundation awards grants to organizations in Southern California that provide on-going, structured youth sports programs combining the essential elements of teaching, learning, and competition. Foundation programs include Coaching Education, Summer Swim, Middle School Sports, Cycling, and Run 4 Fun.
